Diane M Burch
When I worked through the book, "Drawing from the Right Side of My Brain" about 20 years ago, I decided that I wanted to rekindle my love of drawing and art. After an education and a career that was "too practical" to include art, my first drawing class as an adult hooked me. It gave me a sense of serenity.
Having always been fascinated by watercolor, I decided that medium was my challenge. In the Philadelphia area, I studied with artist/teachers such as Judi Betts, Joe Canon, and Frank Webb. After moving to the Charlotte area, I studied with Roland Roycraft, Skip Lawrence, Christopher Schink, and Al Stine. In San Diego I have been fortunate to study with Polly Hammett, Carla O'Conner, Don Andrews and Mary Todd Beam. Art is a constantly learning process. My ever-growing library of art books, both instructional and historical, is reflective of that fact. My idea of a wonderful evening is to curl up with an art book.
In January, 1999 I decided to retire early and paint full-time. I moved to San Diego in 2000 and enjoy a canyon-view home with my small dog, Comet. I am enjoying the new challenges and intriguing subjects in southern California. Also, I play golf and
baby-sit for my two grandsons, Will and Henry. Life is beautiful.
Presently I am a member of San Diego Watercolor Society and San Dieguito Art Guild and participate in their exhibitions. Also, I am
showing at ArtWalk, a regional outdoor fair, San Diego County Fair, have been a featured artist in La Jolla Secret Garden Tour, and also host an annual Art in My Garden Show.
